Solomon, the builder of the Temple had developed a set of tantric mysteries. He had a thousand wives, which means that he invited a thousand faces of the divine goddess to the temple. For the Biblical writers (who represent level 2 consciousness, which is always about rules, permissions and separate self) Solomon is the great sinner of the Book of Kings. But actually, if we transcend level 2 consciousness and step into the post-conventional level 3, then our understanding expands. The Song of Songs and the Book of Books, the Kodesh Hakodashim and the Sanctum Sanctorium, are the Holy of Holies. In the temple, in the Holy of Holies, was the arc with the two sexually intertwined cherubs on top. This inner sactum of erotic energy is the door to mysticism.
The goal of Hebrew mysticism is the redemption of the erotic, which is the redemption of the Sharinah. The cup in the Holy Grail quest is also the feminine goddess divine. The grail is the body of the woman. Mary herself was the grail. The fulfillment of the erotic expands beyond the sexual. Eros manifests itself in every dimension of our life, and that is exactly the goal of the holy quest for the grail.
There is an exile within an exile. Not only the erotic is exiled into the sexual, but the sexual is exiled into transgressive sexuality. We can access full passion more easily in transgressive boundary braking sexuality than in licit sexuality. We sometimes turn to the boundary breaking sexuality, and we say to the erotic „You are not part of my life, sexual. You fill all my erotic needs.” This is how sexuality collapses under the wight of the demand, that it can’t fulfill. Interconnectivty is about boundary breaking, breaking the boundary between you and me.
